Egbert,
The 4-40 screw thread is not right for the K1 Tilt Stand. The 4-40 screws
are the small screws that hold the K1 case together.
The large thumb screw that holds the K1 case to the tilt stand is a 10-32
screw thread. This is the size of the intergral nut that is press-fitted
into the K1 side panels. The small thumb-screws that hold the uprights to
the base of the tilt stand use a 6-32 screw thread.
These are the sizes specified in the instruction sheet that comes with the
tilt stand and I confirmed these sizes by measurement.
The first number in the thread discriptor denotes size and the second number
denotes threads-per-inch.
The metric equivalent for the 6-32 would be 3.3mm diameter x 0.8mm pitch and
for the 10-32 would be 4.8mm diameter x 0.8mm pitch. I am not familiar with
the metric screw thread standards so I don't have any idea if there is an
actual metric equivalent to these english sizes.
I hope this helps.
