Hi Conrad,
I have used my K2 while day-hiking on the Appalachian Trail in three U. S.
states. I thought it was a good choice, and the radio held up quite well.
My K2 is fully outfitted too.
Now that the K1 has come along, I use that as my hiking rig instead, leaving
my K2 back in camp connected to a solar panel. This method allows me to
have fully charged battery when I return from my day hiking. I use a second
solar panel to charge an 8-pack of AA NiMH batteries to take on the
following day's hike.
So that's how I do it now; but formerly I was quite pleased to use my
K2--outfitted just the way yours is!
Good hiking and hamming!
