[Elecraft] TRIAC question

Please pardon a non Kx related question, but I'm having a hard time getting 
an answer to this one, and this is a pretty knowledgeable crowd.

Does anyone know how much heat TRIAC controlers develop?  I'm considering 
using a TRIAC fan speed controler, 110v, and the fan draws 3.6 amps.  The 
controler is rated at 6 amps.  The question arises because a thermostat 
must be placed right next to it in a double-gang box, and I am concerned 
that, if the control develops much heat, it could affect the thermostat. 
Anyone know?
