I've removed and re-installed a lot of toroids without rewinding them.
Yes, the leads are no longer long enough to bend them over to hold the coil,
but it's not really that hard to hold the coil with one hand while tacking
on a bit of solder with the other hand. Once the leads have been 'tacked'
back in place, two hands can be used to apply a small bit of solder, if
needed, to get a good clean flow and joint.
It's not as dead easy as installing a toroid with long leads, but it isn't
really hard to do either.
