[Elecraft] A Minor Puzzle - Direct Freq. Entry

I have noticed that I am unable to use direct frequency entry to get to any 
frequency in the range 5000 - 5999.

The manual says there are three possible results from using direct 
frequency entry:
1.  a freq. within the current band - current VFO updated
2.  a freq. in a different band - band change, and target band config. loaded
3.  a freq. too far outside any band - switched to last freq. used on 
closest available band

However, I get a 4th result when trying the 5000-5999 range:
the display just sits there reading "-5000" and waiting for me to do 
something else.

Now I know this isn't an earth-shaking problem, but does anyone have any 
ideas on this?
