Dear All,
I have just joined this mailing list and will be obtaining a new licence
soon (M3LOK), that will allow me go to onto HF using 10W maximum power. I
will be allowed onto the following bands relevant for the rig:
3.5 - 3.8 MHz (80m)
7 - 7.1 MHz (40m)
10.1 - 10.150 MHz (30m)
14 - 14.350 MHz (20m)
18.068 - 18.168 (17m)
21 - 21.450 MHz (15m)
24.890 - 24.990 MHz (12m)
I looked in the foundation licence requirements and found this:
"Apparatus
4(1) The licensee shall only use transmitting equipment conforming to EC
standards or commercially available kits transmitting inside amatuer bands
only."
Basically, I know that the K2 can cover these UK bands, but can the rig have
its output TX frequency ranges set/locked (presumably programmed into the
rig) so that I could not accidentally transmit outside of the UK bands and
therefore use the kit under the licence?
I did find this comment:
"Transmit Limits: Some countries require transmit to be disabled outside of
specified amateur bands. Your K2 may include such limits encoded in
firmware. If you key the transmitter with the VFO set outside the usable
range, you'll see the END on the LCD."
Also, will there be a 6m transverter option? (50 - 52MHz)
Regards,
Nicholas (2E1LOK soon to be also M3LOK) (UK)
P.S.: If the rig can be fixed can I order it from the qrpproject people in
Germany?
