After two weeks of on-again/off-again building, my K1 finally hits the air
on 40m,30m,20m and 15m (KFL1-4 option). Initial testing of the receiver was
disappointing at first, try as I might I could not find a signal to peak on.
A little bit of checking the recieve path and "Oh, I forgot to put that cap
in (or in one case even Q3)" Duh! I guess that's what happens when you try
to finish a project like this during the Christmas season.

The manual is outstanding, and if you follow the directions to the letter,
even a noice builder could complete the project in a reasonable amount of
time.

Peaking of the caps during transmitter tuning was something of a nailbiter.
The display kept displaying P0.1. I had to go back and retune the receiver
for optimal signal before the transmitter power would respond.

All in all, a great rig. Makes me want to rethink my HW-9 as a main station
and maybe look at the K2.

Next point of test: Take it to the field!
