Let me add emphasis to Michael's comments below.... BE SURE TO USE A
SPENT SHELL CASING... I.E. ONE THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN FIRED.
True story....
In my youth and stupid days, I tried to fill a 22-cal empty shell with
solder. I pried out the bullet and dumped out the powder. Then used my
100w soldering gun to melt solder into the now empty shell. Note that the
primer had not been fired! (Can you see where I am going with this?)
Well, thank goodness that it was a only 22-cal and not something
bigger... Yes, the primer fired and I did get a face full of molten
solder. I was not blinded, but I don't know why not. Lesson Learned! End
of Story.
