MWA guys received this from Bill, AE5EE who is one of the ops on VK0:
"Propagation is a very fickle thing, as I'm learning down here on Heard
Island. I've looked at the predictions for a few places, and I've
looked at some of the VK0EK logs, and there are quite a few things
happening that weren't predicted. There's also significant day-to-day
variability. Today we had a tough time of it, with bands opening late
and closing early."
In the end, they have to adapt to the condx they have. The prop charts were
developed with the assumption of a SSN of 44. The actual numbers are around
11 or 12. It was not an easy shot to the midwest through Mawson to begin
with....now with the low SSN, it's really tough!
