Dave,
I'm not inclined to think they are "on vacation" as opposed to trying to
get the work done before the snow flies!
I would call Springville Ready Mix and ask them. They know the local
contractors and which have the "buggy" that you refer to. The other would
be King Materials.
As for contractors that I have had good luck with - Delaney, Dave Weber
(he came within a day when I called - he assembled a team and did the work
ASAP), and Mel at Linn County Concrete.
Now for some more detailed questions... I am assuming that you have the
rebar cage done and the tower base installed and ready. Do you have pea
gravel at the bottom for leg drainage? (Assumes a tubular tower.) My
reason for asking is that some will do all that work for you - others will
want to pour concrete and be done if they "force" it into their schedule.
The more you want them to do, the more it requires scheduling.
Mel at Linn County Concrete did my hole, rebar cage, placed the above
grade form, and ordered the pour. He also has smaller equipment to get
the concrete to the hole. But he is busy.
This is the season that everyone wants to get driveways done before winter
as well as many commercial projects. That said, I called Springville
about 6 weeks ago and ordered concrete and they were there in 45 minutes!
You can rent the buggy if you need to do the work yourself.
Good luck...
Rick

[EIDXA] looking for concrete work help near Marion
I now have a problem finding a concrete contractor near Marion. The person
who I had lined up canceled on me at the last minute.
I have a 4 foot square hole in the back yard 4 foot deep. That is 64 cubic
feet, or 2.4 cubic yards of Concrete. (think 2/3 of a truck of concrete,
or about 69 bags of quick crete) I have the ham radio tower, I have the
rerod, I have the sand, I just don't have the concrete.
I have tried calling a couple concrete contractors, and I get the
impression early October is more like vacation time for them. I want to
fill the hole in soon, before the snow flies, leaving a 4 foot deep hole
in back yard until spring does not seem advisable to me.
The main problem is the hole is in the back yard, so I would need a way of
transporting the concrete about 75 feet from the curb to my backyard. I
can drive a vehicle back to the hole easily, but the driveway can't handle
the weight of a concrete truck.
>From what I know of concrete, this would be a 2 man job, 1 to drive the
buggy/wheelbarrow, and 1 to shove the concrete down into the hole quickly,
especially if I use a cement truck full of it.
I am willing to pay a contractor to do this, but I can't seem to find
anyone who wants to do this RIGHT NOW.
Any advice?
Dave
