I now have a problem finding a concrete contractor near Marion. The person who I had lined up canceled on me at the last minute.
I have a 4 foot square hole in the back yard 4 foot deep. That is 64 cubic feet, or 2.4 cubic yards of Concrete. (think 2/3 of a truck of concrete, or about 69 bags of quick crete) I have the ham radio tower, I have the rerod, I have the sand, I just don't have the concrete.
I have tried calling a couple concrete contractors, and I get the impression early October is more like vacation time for them. I want to fill the hole in soon, before the snow flies, leaving a 4 foot deep hole in back yard until spring does not seem advisable to me.
The main problem is the hole is in the back yard, so I would need a way of transporting the concrete about 75 feet from the curb to my backyard. I can drive a vehicle back to the hole easily, but the driveway can't handle the weight of a concrete truck.
From what I know of concrete, this would be a 2 man job, 1 to drive the buggy/wheelbarrow, and 1 to shove the concrete down into the hole quickly, especially if I use a cement truck full of it.
I am willing to pay a contractor to do this, but I can't seem to find anyone who wants to do this RIGHT NOW.
Any advice?
Dave
