Dispatch #2 from Xmas Isd. 5:15pm, Oct23rd local/10:15pm, Oct 22nd CR
 time!

Hey Guys,

We have now setup two stations. One in our bungalow with a vertical
antenna fed against the metal roof. The second is on a tiki hut shade
right on the beach. (we are on the NW corner of Xmas Isd) The vertical
is grounded into the Pacific Ocean. The bungalow has AC power at night
5pm to 7am...but they'll keep it on for the contest. This AM we
borrowed a car as the owner was too drunk to drive us, and we drove to
the gas station. We borrowed a very large 12vt battery. We used this
today to run the tiki station. The food is actually quite good. Last
night was grilled fish (surprise!) and lobster tail.

Wx here is vy hot during the day..but tolerable with a constant 20 mph
trade wind. We were pleasantly surprised to see how nicely it cools at
 night.

I worked ZRL and NR0X last night on a not so good antenna set up and
lots of rfi and JA's calling when I asked for USA. I held my ground to
not work them when it's SR over USA. Then this afternoon Rod and I ran
over 100 stns in about 2 hrs on the tiki station. Lots o pileup on
14195 that made for a fun time.

As usual out here, the stars are fabulous.

73s/ Tom & Rod
