Rick, sounds like fun! What an opportunity!

Along the same line, I expect to be in VP2V-land again this year from Feb.
11-18. My activity will be very limited, as this trip is primarily for R&R
with my XYL Sandy, since I have been living away from home during the week
for the past 9 months. Also fly fishing and snorkeling have a high priority.
But, assuming I don't run into the same TSA and lost baggage problems that I
encountered last year, I hope to be active at least a little bit as
VP2V/AK0M. During the ARRL DX CW contest I am authorized to use VP2VES (nice
CW call!).

Rigs will be an FT857 and PAR Electronics end-fed half-wave antennas for
40-17m. During the day on the beach I may have a homebrew 20-10m vertical
right at the saltwater edge on the north side of the island and my FT817 at
a mighty 5W. I've found however that 5W to a vertical on salt water works
very well.

We will be staying at Neptunes Treasure on the island of Anegada. This is a
relatively out-of-the-way place, and somewhat difficult to get to, including
a ferry ride. There are only about 200 people on the island, which is
surrounded by beautiful beaches where you rarely see anyone for miles.
Fishing is excellent, as is the snorkeling off the reefs.

So while Rick is sipping Pina Colada's and pounding out QSOs, I hope to be
working on rum and Cokes (and a local drink called a "Painkiller"... just
think about it!) and maybe doing some CW too. Hope I don't get sand in my
paddles...

I'll try to occasionally think about all of you and your nice WX back here
in IA.

73, Steve AK0M
