I apologize for missing last week's meeting but travel to Washington DC
got in the way.

But there is good news based on all my domestic and international travel.
I have frequent flier miles!!! So to use them effectively...

I have been asked to be a member of the 2008 ARRL CW DX Contest team at
PJ2T. And of course I accepted! What an honor to be asked to be a member
of the World #1 contest station. If memory serves me correctly, PJ2T has
been #1 since 2003 in either Multi-single, Multi-two, or Multi-multi. So
to be part of a #1 team will be a challenge to see if I can really be a
supporter of the group.

My personal goal was to be part of a CW effort from a DX location. My
previous PJ2T experience was for CQWW SSB in 2005 (time flies!). So this
time I get my chance. I really look forward to learning new skills from
W8AV, W0NB, N1ZZ, etc - all of whom have been part of previous winning
efforts.

My plan is to depart on Sunday, February 10th and return on the 19th. So
I hope to have some time to focus on CW for that week. Not likely that I
will do much phone operating. (Now do you think that Terry, W0AWL took
his keyer with him for use with his mobile?) If you have a special
request for a WARC band contact, or something special for a band country,
let me know. For this trip I plan to use LoTW instead of paper cards, but
will honor all regular QSL requests as well.

I have already committed to do a newsletter article on the activity and if
there is enough new material maybe I will even prepare a presentation if
there is interest.

So while all of you are digging out of the February snows, I will be
sipping Pina Coladas and running Europeans and Russians on 160M!
