[Eico] Capacitor replacement when restoring

I do antique radio restorations and we genrally leave the ceramics and micas
alone unless we have a reason to suspect something specific with those.

Silver micas can be a problem in situations where thery are subject to
significant DC being applied as this can cause silver migration.

I always check any resistors in circuits where significant power is involved
and I spot check the 1/2 watters here and there.

I have an IT-12 signal tracer  from a yard sale in which the quality of
construction is so poor with so many cold solder joints that I intend to
simply strip it bare and start it as a kit from  scratch all over again.

I wouldn't normally go that far with a radio.For one thing,it is sometimes
wise to leave well enough alone in vintage sets.

Of course,electrolytics are always replaced.Some 40 year old wax filled
tubular caps are often still quite good,though -----in my experience.But,I
do replace these anyway.
