09/10/2003: Members from the Lufthansa Amateur Radio Club (DL0DLH) will
be operating from the Azores (EU-003), October 9th to 12th, under the
callsign CU2L. Activity will be on HF bands (160 meters included) on
SSB, CW and PSK. Operators are: DL1FDS, DK7TF, DG5FCN, DL4FP and DK7PE.

09/10/2003: The St. Helens Radio Club will again be active from
Guernsey Island (IOTA EU-114) as GP0STH (GP0 ST. Helens). Operators Ron,
G4DIY, and Lee, G0DBE, expect to be active from 11:00 UTC Thursday,
October 9th, through Monday the 13th. Activity will be on 40, 30, 20,
17, 15, 12, 10 meter CW and SSB on the usual DXpedition frequencies. QSL

09/10/2003: Jim, W7UG and Tom, K7ZZ will operate as V63ZT from Yap
(OC-012), Micronesia, starting around October 9th for one week. Look for
them on 80 through 10 meters (with an emphasis on the WARC bands) SSB
and CW, with some RTTY if there is enough interest in that mode. QSLs

10/10/2003: Look for RK3DZJ/3 to be QRV October 10th to 13th from the
Kaluzhskie Zaseki national park (RFFA reference RFF-042 for the Russian
Flora and Fauna Award, RDA reference KG-27 for the Russian Districts

10/10/2003: Special call YE32OB will be aired (on 10, 15 and 20 meters
SSB, CW and digital modes) from Batam Island (OC-075) between October
10th and 12th during the Ham Festival held by the local ORARI branch and
to celebrate the 32th anniversary of "Otorita Batam"
(http://www.batam.go.id). QSL direct via IZ8CCW. Those who work YE32OB
on three bands or three modes are entitled to have a souvenir from

10/10/2003: Jack, ZL3CW, will be active as ZM8CW from Raoul Island,
Kermadec Islands (OC-039), from October 10th to 18th, 2003, approx. He
will be there doing maintenance work for the Department of Conservation
and hopes to be active in his spare time. Note this is NOT a DXpedition
as such but you know Jack is great CW operator and enjoys the challenge

11/10/2003: Tarrytown, NY (USA-836) will become the Lighthouse at
Sleepy Hollow and will be activated on Saturday, October 11, 2003 from
11:00 AM - 4:00PM (EST) by WA2MZZ/p (292), KA2ZJE/p (342), NB2D/p and
others. ARLHS frequencies, plus 147.06, 147.105. Certificates will be
issued by SASE by KA2ZJE. This special event is to celebrate the village
of Sleepy Hollow taking over the Kingsland State Park and Lighthouse
(the lighthouse will eventually be turned on again). There will be
lighthouse tours, fireworks and other events that will take place this

11/10/2003: Detlev, DL1RTW, will be active as DL1RTW/p from Ruegen
Island (IOTA EU-057, DID O-07 for the German Islands Award) October 11th

11/10/2003: Russ, K9DXR, will be attempting to activate the Cana Island
lighthouse (ARLHS USA-104, Door county), Baileys Harbor, WI, October
11th and 12th using his IC-706 and outbacker antennas. He will try to be
on 40m and 20m standard LH frequencies (7270Mhz and 14270Mhz) +/- QRM.

11/10/2003: The Lake Whitney Amateur Radio Club, NZ5T, will be QRV

11/10/2003: Look for Gerhard DJ5IW, Thomas DL2RMC, Hartmut DM5TI and
Andree DL8LAS to be active as VK9CT and VK9D from the Cocos-Keeling
Islands (OC-003) between October 11th and 23rd. Activity will be on all
modes, 160 through 6 meters with a focus on the lower and the WARC
bands, including operations on AO-40. They will have 3 stations on. QSL

12/10/2003: Pierre, HB9QQ, will again be on from Liechtenstein as
HB0/HB9QQ starting October 12th, for a few days, if weather and snow
permit, and mainly on 160M. His QTH is at 2200M elevation, and he will

12/10/2003: Look for K9ZEV to be QRV October 12th from Biddle Island
(USI IN-001R, Not IOTA, Cass county), Indiana. Biddle Island is located
in the Wabash River. Activity will start at 15:00 UTC and go to 22:00

13/10/2003: Leo, W3LEO, reports that he will once again be active from
Portpatrick in southwest Scotland from about October 13th to November
15th. His callsign will be MM0LEO, and he plans to be in the CQWW SSB
Contest. He will use an Icom 706 (w/100 watts) using the following
antennas: R-5 vertical [20, 17, 15, 12 and 10 meters] and a 40-meter
dipole [in inverted-V, semi-delta configuration]. QSL via W3LEO, CBA or

13/10/2003: Mark, KG8DP, trustee/member of the Rusty Zipper HF & DX
Contest Club (NA8KD), reports that he will be active as NA8KD from
Grassey Key (IOTA NA-062, USI FL-068S, Monroe county), Florida, October
13th to 19th. He will be a fixed station there, but he will be mobile

13/10/2003: Three of the YLs who operated VK9YL and ZK1XYL last year,
namely Gwen/VK3DYL, June/VK4SJ and Elizabeth/VE7YL (CW), will activate
Christmas Island (OC-002) as VK9XYL from October 13th to 27th. Activity
will be on 80 through 10 meters, SSB and CW - no RTTY or PSK. QSL via

13/10/2003: John, WD0FPY, is off to New England again, in particular
Rhode Island and Massachusetts. He will be activating a number of
lighthouses while there as WD0FPY/1. He plans to be there from October
13th through October 20th. The tentative plan is: Rhode Island on
October 13th; Massachusetts on October 14th; Nantucket Island (IOTA
NA-046, USI MA-007S, Nantucket county), Massachusetts, on October 15 and
16th; Massachusetts on October 17th; and Rhode Island (IOTA NA-031) on

16/10/2003: Amateur Radio Club of DARC e.V. Ahrensburg/Grosshansdorf,
DL0AS, will activate Gollwitz West lighthouse (GLHA-72 for the German
Lighthouse Award, ARLHS FED-093), Gollwitz Nord lighthouse (GLHA-74,
ARLHS FED-092) and Timmendorf lighthouse (GLHA-47, ARLHS FED-236) on

17/10/2003: The Atacama Desert Dx group operators XQ1IDM, XQ4ZW,
CE1URH, CE1RQB,CE1VBH, CE1FLS, CA2WUI, CD0906 and CE6TBN will be on the
air as 3G2D from Damas island (IOTA SA-086, DICE ICE-201, WW Loc.
FG40fs) October 17, 18 and 19th. They will be on the air from 160
through 6 meter CW, SSB and RTTY/PSK. They plan to operate 3 stations 24

17/10/2003: Look for CE0Y/SP9PT and CE0Y/SP9EVP to operate from Easter
Island (SA-001) between October 17th and November 1st. They will be
active on 80 through 6 meter CW, maybe with some PSK, RTTY and SSTV.
>From November 1st to 8th they expect to sign CE3/SP9PT/m and

18/10/2003: Martin, DL1ZU, will be QRV October 18th to 26th from
Fehmarn Island (EU-128) as DL1ZU/p. Activity will be on 80 through 10

18/10/2003: The North Port ARC will do a six hour dxpedition to Cayo
Costa (IOTA NA-069, USI FL-464S, Lee county), Florida, accessible only
via boat, under Field Day conditions on October 18, 2003. The team will
consist of K1ARL (Carl), WD4A (Al), KA9WIE (Mike) and others. They will
try to have at least two bands on at all times. Activity will be on 40

18/10/2003: Marc (KD5MSS/p) and Ralph (NM5RC/p) will be roving on Lake
Powell islands during entire W/VE Islands contest (October 18-19th)
using both call signs on one rig. This part of Lake Powell is in
Cocconino County, AZ and Kane and San Juan Counties, UT. They will
overnight on island that is on state line and will receive both AZ and
UT USI numbers; station will be set up with antenna in one state and rig
in other state. Ralph will send QSL cards to all contacts. Marc will QSL
DX contacts and requests others send card and SASE if you want card.

18/10/2003: Sasi, VU3SNM/9V1SM, will be active from Bermuda's
Biological Station for Research, October 18-27th. Look for VU3SNM/VP9 on
20-6 meter PSK31 and SSB. Since this is a work related trip, most of the

Island lighthouse (ARLHS USA-045) from the shore of Northeast Harbor,

on October 18th. Activity will be mostly on 20 meter SSB. He will also

19/10/2003: Look for GB2LSM to be active on HF 40m and 20m and other
bands and possible CW operators as well on October 19th. Operating from
the Long Shop Museum "Final Fling steam day" in Leiston from NE Suffolk

19/10/2003: Operators Doug W3CF, John WX0B, Sharon N5CK, Irwin KD3TB,
Andrew KD3RF, Heinz DF2BO and Sigmond KM9M will activate the Royal
Antiguan Radio Club Station, V26DX, as a Multi/2 Low Power entry for the
CQWW Phone Contest. Operators begin activity October 19th, and the last
one out is November 1st. QSL all V26DX QSOs via KU9C with appropriate
return postage and self addressed envelope or via the bureau. QSL
individual ops via on air instructions. Their planned activity will be
on 6 meters and the WARC bands before and after the contest. ADDED
NOTES: A "Top Gun" plaque will be given to the first single op station
to work them on 6 bands. "Top Gun" T-Shirts will be awarded to the top 9
fastest 6 band single op Q's after that. Their antennas will include:

19/10/2003: Look for WW9CW (Craig) and N9YPN (Tony) to be QRV from
Campbell's Island (USI IL-006R) located in the Mississippi River, Rock
Island county, Illinois, during the Illinois QSO Party (October
19-20th). They will be using the call WW9CW. Activity will be from 17:00
UTC to 22:00 UTC October 19th on 40, 20 and towards evening 80 meters.

20/10/2003: Holger, DL5XAT, and Matthias, DL5OB, have cancelled their
C5 (The Gambia) operation scheduled for October 21st to November 2nd.
They will now be active from Gozo Island (EU-023) from October 20th to
30th. Activity should include the CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October
25-26th). Contest callsign was not mentioned. However, outside of the
contest look for 9H3SB (DL5XAT) and 9H3UD (DL5OB). QSL via the bureau or

20/10/2003: Willy Dellaert, ON5AX, reports that he will be active (SSB
and CW) as FR/ON5AX from Reunion Island (IOTA AF-016, DIFO FR-001)
between October 20th and 23rd October, as S79AX from Mahe, Praslin and
La Digue (AF-024), Seychelles between October 24th to November 4th (CQ
WW SSB DX Contest included) and as 3B8/ON5AX from Mauritius (AF-049)

20/10/2003: The Florida DXPedition Group has entered the CQWW SSB
contest from a DX location since 1996 as WP2AHW. This year eight members
will be operating from San Andres Island (NA-033) during the period of
October 20th to 28th. They will run four to five stations before and
after the contest. For the CQWW SSB contest (October 25-26) they have
been assigned the call 5J0X and will participate as a Multi-Two entry.
QTH: "Red Crab QTH", Loc: EK92dn, CQ Zone 07 and ITU Zone 11. Operators:
Jan K4QD, William N2WB, Bill W4WX, Bob K9MDO, Cory N1WON, Clarence
W9AAZ, Larry W1LR and Vance N5VL. They will be signing HK0/home call.
Bands and modes: 160 through 6 meter CW, Phone, RTTY / PSK-31. QSL via

20/10/2003: Operators Bob PZ5JR, John PZ5DX and Arnold PZ1AP will be
active during the CQWW SSB Contest as PZ5JR from October 20th to
November 4th. Operators PZ5JR and PZ5DX will be operating in different
parts of the country, possibly from the jungle as portable seven. Their

21/10/2003: An international team of thirty operators will activate
VB2C (CQ Zone 2, Camp Rupert, James Bay, Northern Quebec) between
October 21st and 27th. Activity will include the CQWW SSB Contest as a
Multi/Multi entry. "Team Zone 2" with its 30 op effort will be active

21/10/2003: WA2VYA, K2WB and N2VW will be active as VP5/homecall (QSL
via home call) from Providenciales (NA-002), Turks & Caicos Islands,
between October 21st and 28th. They will also be participating in the CQ
WW DX SSB Contest as VP5T (QSL via N2VW), a Muli-Multi entry. Before and
after the contest they will concentrate on CW and the WARC bands. [Tnx

21/10/2003: Jaak, ES1FB, plans to be QRV as XU7ACV from Koh Poah Island
(AS-133) between October 21st and 23rd. QSL direct to ES1FB. [Tnx OPDX]
22/10/2003: Team Antigua will ride once again to activate V26B on the
Beautiful Island Nation of Antigua and Barbuda (IOTA NA-100, Grid Loc.
FK97) in the 2003 running of the CQWW SSB Contest (October 24-25th).
Their plans are to enter the Multioperator/Two-transmitter category.
Members of Team Antigua will also make special attempts to be active on
RTTY, PSK31, 160 meters and the WARC bands a few days both before and
after the contest. There is also a possibility of some 6 meter with
conditions permitting! Most likely their operators will make their
presence felt on all bands starting on or about October 22th until about
November 2nd. The Members of Team Antigua and their calls: V26B - Sam,
WT3Q (QSL via WT3Q); V26EW - Ed, N2ED (QSL via N2ED), V26OC - Brian,
N3OC (QSL via N3OC); V26R - Mike, KA2AEV (QSL via KA2AEV); and V26U -
Bill, W2UDT (QSL via W2UDT). As well as a few new members who will
announce their QSL routes when their Antigian calls become finalized.

(NA-057), Honduras between October 22nd and November 3rd, including an

23/10/2003: Harry AC8G, Ron WA8LOW, Ron W8ILC, Brian KA7KUZ, Kecko
TI5KD, Tony VE3RZ, Jorge CX6VM, Ed K1EP, Tom ZP5AZL, Juan ZP5MAL, Dale
N3BNA and Dave WT8R, will be manning the TI5N Contest station as a
multi-multi entry in the CQWWSSB contest (October 25-26). QSL TI5N via
W3HNK. For a day or two before and after the contest, the individual
operators will be on the using TI5/own-callsign as time permits. Expect
a higher level of CW and other non SSB modes on the contest bands due to
the large SSB volume in the contest. Attention will also be directed to
6 meters and the WARC bands using various modes. QSL's for the
individual QSO's should go to the callbook address unless advised
otherwise. IMPORTANT - do not mix the contest QSL with ones for the

23/10/2003: Six operators from the radio-club of Nancy (F6KIM), will be
QRV October 23rd to 27th from Porquerolles island (IOTA EU-070, DIFM
ME-010, WW Loc. JN38), using the call sign TM5CRO. Activity will be on
all bands 160 meters through 23 centimeters, except 6 meters (not
allowed in this department) and 432 MHz. WSJT activity is also planned.

23/10/2003: Vlad V5/ZS6MG (QSL via ZS6MG) and Emil V5/ZS6EGB (QSL via
ZS6EGB) will be QRV from the evening of October 23rd until the morning
of October 27th from Outjo, Namibia. They also will be active in the
CQWW-SSB Contest (October 25-26th) as V51E (QSL via ZS6MG). Before and
after the contest they will be active on most HF bands on CW, SSB, RTTY

25/10/2003: Members of the Guam Contest Club will be on the air during
the CQ WW DX SSB Contest SSB (October 25-26th). Look for operators
JI3ERV/NH2C, JR7OMD/WI3O, JP1JFG/N2IU, JG3RPL/N1BJ, JH7QXJ, JR8VSE/NH2N
