[Dxbase] New LOTW Software

Saw this on LOTW page.  I wonder if it applies to DXB.  I have not
upgraded to the latest LOTW software.  In fact, I'm running 2.3.1 on XP
and it won't allow me to update.  Probably a good thing.  Here is the
text from the ARRL:

Beginning with TQSL 2.5.2, ARRL is now checking consistency to improve
the integrity of logging data collected in Logbook of The World.  The
information in ADIF format with which users submit logs is now being
used for crosschecks that help prevent inaccurate or incomplete
information from contaminating the Logbook database.

The Amateur Data Interchange Format (ADIF) exists precisely to help
ensure the accuracy of “data interchange” among amateur radio
applications.   By checking that the station information entered for an
overall log matches the ADIF data on an individual QSO, Logbook can
reject entries where inconsistencies suggest that the data are
faulty.  Accurate entries help operators get all the confirmations that
they deserve, and prevent useless entries that will never be matched.

The first Implementation of these crosschecks, in TQSL 2.5.2 onward, has
revealed that many logging applications have not been following the
rules laid out by the ADIF standard.  The current version of the
standard has been in place since May 2019 and is publicly available at
www.adif.org <http://www.adif.org>.  The field used for checking
location has been in the ADIF standard since 2004.  The standard is
maintained and voted on by the ADIF group, including 22 voting members,
of which ARRL is only one.

N4JQQ + I have no idea if DXB is using the current version of the
standard but it seems like that would not be possible.  My question to
the group is, if a user of DXB 2007 were to upgrade to the latest
version of TQSL, would exports from DXB still work??????????

Some commentators have suggested that ARRL has not defined the ADIF
fields appropriately.  At least, this represents a misunderstanding of
how the ADIF standard is developed and maintained, and at worst ignores
the responsibility of logging applications to follow the standard if
they provide files which they claim to be in ADIF format.

Operators have a right to insist that the logging applications they use
conform to the standards agreed upon by the ADIF collective.  Those who
find their logger out of conformance should demand that it be updated,
or, if the logger is unsupported or unwilling to update, should
investigate switching to a logger that is a cooperative member of the
universe of amateur radio logging applications.
