I have just finished or I think I am finished with getting my log cleared of Silent Keys, Deleted Country, and hams that just will not QSL, and hams that will not tell me I am not in the log, along with hams that I mad QSOs from the 1980's that QRZ.com has no address listing or I could not fine them on http://dxinfo.ea3bhk.com/dxinforesult.php or onhttp://www.ik3qar.it/logisole/ or http://hamcall.net/
Since I have USA worked on every band and CW and Phone modes, I put the letter NNN/ in front of every call that I will no longer get cards from. DXBase does an fine job to keep track of deleted counties. Other programs do not.
When you make an ADIF and move your info log to another program or importing from another program into DXBase your Deleted EAR MARK, Silent Key, or hams you will never get cards from is lost. It is up to your new program to re-assign them. Most of your EAR MARK work is lost and will have to be done all over again.
Again ADIF committee let us down again. I have issues with this. One program I ran across uses ## as a DXCC county to EAR MARK QSOs that you will never get confirmed or that are confirmed and are no longer any use. You can then Search for them when every you need to and your log data is not lost.
By EAR MARKING these type of QSOs and Confirmations, make it much easier to spot that you need to work that country to get it confirmed. I have the tendency to over look these and just look for New Band Country spots. I blew the others off by saying sure may card is in the mail and I do not have to worry about it. In some cases if I did not pay attention I have been waiting 30 years to get a confirmation from that station.
Sorry I have not read the previous subject on ADiF. Too busy around here lately.
Stay on course, fight a good fight, and keep the faith. Jim K9TF/WA9YSD
