Joe,

The installation of DXbase, whether from a CD, or from a download version, 
has nothing to do with trial mode being present or absent.  Trial mode is 
controlled by the presence or absence of the registration in your registry. 
So, if you start DXbase and it says you are in trial mode, then this is 
happening because your registration has not been successfully applied and is 
not present in your pc's registry.  It has nothing to do with the 
installation of DXbase itself.  So, trying to install/reinstall etc.... 
trying different installation directories, etc... is not going to have any 
effect on whether DXbase is in trial mode or not.

To review:
1.  When you install from the CD, or from the download version, the software 
is identical.  We provide a download version for those who want the software 
quicker than if they must wait for us to create and mail a CD. 
Additionally, you save some bucks if you use the download version.
2.  When you install DXbase, it is in trial mode until you successfully 
apply the registration which is provided to you as a .zip file in an email, 
or if you ordered the CD version then the registration is contained as a 
.reg file on a 3.5" floppy disk.
3.  It doesn't matter whether you apply the registration and then install 
DXbase, or vice versa.
4.  After installing DXbase, it will be in trial mode until the registration 
has been successfully applied.
5.  After the registration has been successfully applied, DXbase will 
automatically revert to a registered version that allows you to select you 
own database.

To apply the registration:
You MUST be logged on to your pc as the Administator when using Vista.  To 
the best of our knowledge, when applying the registration under Vista 32bit 
version, the following procedure works fine:

1.  Copy the .zip file attachment to a folder on your hard drive.
2.  Turn off any anti virus programs that may be running.
3.  Unzip the .zip file from your hard drive.
4.  You will now see that there is a .reg file present.
5.  Double click this .reg file with your mouse.
6.  Windows will ask if it is ok to place info in your registry.
7.  Answer Yes.

After doing this, when you start DXbase, it will no longer show trial mode 
and you will now be forced to select your own .mdb which by default is named 
yourcall.mdb, where yourcall is your callsign that you entered during the 
installation of DXbase.

still have had no luck in getting dxbase 2007 to run on my computer with 
windows vista, however i have managed a work around to the problem and that 
is to reinstall dxbase 2006 from the cd rom i got when i purchased dxbase 
2006 and dxbase 2006 now works fine no problem at all, but no matter what i 
do have not figured out how to get dxbase to get out of the demo mode, i 
have tried installing in a new directory, reapplying registration key etc. 
did e mail scientific solutions and hope to get cd rom from them with dx 
base 2007 and see if that will work. thanks to all for their suggestions and 
help, will keep everyone up to date on this problem.  joe  kl7lf
