[Dxbase] System Question

Steve,

According to the minimum requirements of DXBase that should be more than
sufficient. Several questions:

When is the last time you did a defrag? Defragging can improve the
performance of your machine if it's severely fragmented.

When is the last time you scanned for spyware and bots? Bots and spyware can
bring your system to a complete halt in severe cases. My son's friend from
college brought his laptop tot the house earlier this month complaining of
slow performance. I removed over 1700 pieces of malware and spyware, one bot
and a rootkit that required reinstalling the OS.

How long has Win2k been operating on that box? All versions of Windows OS
tend to fragment over time resulting in degraded performance. It's referred
to as Winrot and the only cure is to reinstall the OS.

None of the above may be causing your problems but if you read them and
haven't done them recently or you're not sure what I'm talking about you
definitely want to start there.

73,

Jim, K8FT

Subject: [Dxbase] System Question

I am running 2006 on a Pentium III 850 Mhz laptop. It only has 248 MB
of RAM in it. OS is Windows 2000. I am noticing that the program is
running somewhat slow, windows hesitate on occasion, etc. I can only
upgrade to 512 MB of RAM in this machine.

Is this system adquate for DXBase?

Thanks,

Steve, N4JQQ
