Hi folks,
I just wanted to clarify what I'd posted earlier today about my DXCC
submission. Here's what I wrote in answer to a private reply that maybe
someone can help.
If I go into LoTW and tell it to use all my LoTW credits for bands and
modes, I then need a way to tell DX Base, in essence, "These QSOs have been
selected by LoTW -- don't select OTHER QSOs for same entities/bands
instead." I don't know if DX Base is smart enough to do this. On the
surface, it doesn't seem to be. I don't want to wind up paying for 150 or
200 duplicate contacts, and I think that's exactly what DX Base will do. It
will select its own criteria and probably will treat LoTW as an afterthought.
In reality, LoTW confirmation needs to trump hard-cards, if the option of
"BOTH" is selected.
For example.
I have 8P1A on 40 SSB confirmed by hard card first, but then I got 8P8P on
40 SSB confirmed through LoTW afterwards. DX Base always seems to take the
first confirmation received for a given band/mode and adds it to the list,
so when I run the DXCC report, it will select 8P1A.
Meanwhile, LoTW will want to credit 8P8P, since it's the one in their
system. I need to be able to tell DX Base to take everything LoTW confirmed
FIRST, and only THEN select the hard-cards for bands/modes not already LoTW
confirmed. The process is really as clear as mud, and I can't afford to pay
for >100 or 200 dupes.
Am I missing a step or three somewhere? I printed out a test DXCC
submission and I'm comparing it to my award matrix on LoTW, and there are
at least 75 or 80 discrepancies so far...enough to make the printed report
completely useless.
