[Dxbase] Building new shack computer

I have been told that these interfaces work excellent for rig control from
USB and work well with DXBase. All of the reviews of this device on
eham.net are also very positive.

I just ordered one earlier this week but it has not arrived yet. The cost
is $60 delivered.

Some of the newer laptops also use lower voltage on the serial ports and do
not interface well with some of the computers or the Icom CT-17 and clone
level converters.

Rich is correct and I should have mentioned that to overcome the serial port
problem.
Byterunner provides a good answer, I've used their product successfully and
their support
was excellent. Byterunner is a bit expensive and I've only rarely seen
used/surplus units
offered for sale.

Another choice is dual and quad serial adapters made by SIIG.
I've had total success with these and they can be found on Ebay at very low
prices.

Both units come in PCI format and have drivers for all Windows OS's.

Obviously these choices only work with Desktop units and not laptops.
