Try the following:
Using Windows Device Manager make sure the specific COM Port (Your USB cable with the chipset) is configured for 38400 baud 8N1. You can even modify the COM Port number here if you want.
NOTE: In the FT DX 5000 itself, set Menu 032 GENE CAP BPS to 38400
In DX4WIN:
Set rig at FT DX 5000, 38400 baud (default), the default polling is 1000 ms and 5 Max tries. ***Obviously set it to the Com Port number you determined above for USB cable/chip.
Usually both DTR and RTS are off, but you may also want to try DTR High.
Mine works here.

Subject: [Dx4win] DX4WIN
Using Win 10 current version, Yaesu FTdx5000, and cannot get them to talk to each other. Using the serial port on the 5000, an RT Systems USB-63 cable w/the FD-11 chipset, and a USB connector on the other end. I’m assuming I have a comport assignment problem. Is there a specific comport number, speed, etc that I should be using for each? Tnx/73 Steve k8ej at charter.net
