[Dx4win] DX4WIN and Windows 8.

I am using DX4WIN version 6.03. I have loaded the program from the disc onto a new laptop with Windows 8. Seems to have loaded OK but when I try to open the program I get the message "Port driver not found! Check Appendix: Files for the correct driver".
Does this mean that version 6.03 is too old to work with Windows 8? What does "Check appendix" mean and how do I do that?
