With regards to this issue and using my good old, but fine DX4WIN
Version 5.03, all is now working fine.

I downloaded and installed a copy of DX4WIN Version 8.04 and run the
program in demo mode and found the FT950 was listed in the radio list.

I then used a straight serial cable as specified in the Yaesu FT950 CAT
operations reference book and it worked.

In DX4WIN the preferences/radio data default baudrate of 4800 was used,
COM1, 3000ms Poll rate, DTR and RTS set on and in FT940 a baudrate of
4800, RTS on and 3000ms was selected. The PC COM1 port setting
properties was also set for 4800 bps, 8 bit, no parity, 1 stop bit and
Hardware handshaking.

I then copied the FT950 rigfile to my DX4WIN Version 5.03 and placed it
in the radio folder and now this good old version of DX4WIN also works
fine with my FT950.

So problem solved.

Thank you Kostas sv1dpi for your suggestion.

Cheerio and 73's from Ron.
