[Dx4win] Measuring the LoTW import process

Hi Larry,

The figures I compare are the QSL number on the LoTW site and the LoTW cfms
in DX4WIN, if these stay stable what more could you want.

Having said that some may find a discrepancy in these totals, hopefully only
small. LoTW had a problem with these people who keep uploading the same
QSO's again and again. There was a bug in the LoTW program and sometimes
when s QSO was uploaded again it would un match the QSL and you would lose
it on the LoTW site. If you had downloaded the cfm into DX4WIN in the mean
time then you're DX4WIN cfm total would be greater than the LoTW site total.

This all happened some time ago now and I believe the LoTW guys have fixed
it, as it does not seem to be happening any more but I still have 4 cfm's in
my log that have vanished on LoTW, fortunately the DXCC totals still tally
and I can only hope they will remain un important and I'm not going to waste
time finding them.

I still can't believe the number of people who upload their whole log each
time to LoTW. It seems quite a large percentage of the users do this as you
see their QSL's churning through time and time again, a complete waste.

73, John ZL1BYZ.

Randy,

Thank you for this explanation, which makes perfect sense. <duh - why didn't

I think of that?> If the other stations are re-submitting the same QSOs,
then it's possible that those 20 "unaccounted for" QSOs had been confirmed
via an earlier download and won't be reconfirmed.

Maybe I'll perform another download in a few days, when I haven't just run a

contest. The LoTW download file should be small enough that I can easily
compare every downloaded QSO and see what's happening. Examining this
download with 294 QSOs in it only made my head hurt! ;-)
