My USB CI-V adapter was an inexpensive eBay purchase that worked sort
of OK for most DX4WIN operations (clicking onto a spot reliably set
the rig to the spot freq) but didn't reliably read the rig's
frequency. I've discovered that this is due to an error in the rig
files that's pretty easily fixed. While the current DX4WIN operation
doesn't follow the CI-V specification, there's enough ambiguity in
that spec that my change could break some CI-V rigs.
If you can't reliably read the VFO off of your ICOM, let me know and
I'll tell you how to fix it. Actually, if your CI-V rig works now, and
you're willing to try the fix, let me know and I'll explain. I don't
think the fix will break anyone but will allow less robust adapters to
work right.
