Joe,

Thanks for the advice I had that problem too but finally set the 706 to 50 and DX4Win in File/preferences/radio-address to 50, that worked. Both are now talking but it still tells me that the selected port does not exist. I had this rig running out here in XE1 for getting on 10 years with no problems. Now, after it sufferede damage I am having trouble, and, as it was so long ago I have forgotten the settings.

  Anyhow, many thanks

Andy, make sure the CI-V address (Menu Item 34) is set to 58. There's
an error in the manual implying that it's 4E and your unit may have
defaulted to that.

It was returned to ICOM for repair and is working OK but I cannot get it to work with DX4Win. I am using the same set-up as before witha MicroHam USB interface. The discharge blew up the processor which was changed so all the settings reverted to factory defaults. I have been going through them all on the menus and getting them back to what I want but cannot get the rig/PC to talk. When I try to "start radio" I get a message saying "ie_open - device already open" as if another program is using the port. I have tried changing the port although this is theway things were set up previously.
