It sounds like you're doing it right.  First look at the troublesome 
ADIF file you downloaded and see if looks right:

<EOH>
QSO records with <EOF> at the end

Are you sure you're importing the NEW files, and not the older ones?

See if Paul (support at dx4win.com) wants the ADIF files and your log so 
he can debug the program.  Don't delete them!
