[Dx4win] Getting Keyboard CW to Work

Harry, it doesn't sound like you're using an interface. You need a
simple interface to key the rig. Look in the help file under "CW
interface." I use LPT (parallel) port keying and have built my
interface inside the standard 1/4" plug housing. You can probably do
the same thing if you decide to use the COM (serial) port and its
recommended interface for keying. I believe these interfaces are also
available commercially.

I was also informed by Guy, ON4AOI, that one can key a relay directly
from either of these ports. However, an opto-isolator circuit is
recommended to protect the computer. I have some diagrams of a variety
of interface circuits from a PowerPoint presentation that I can send you.

As far as the USB-to-serial converter is concerned, I don't know.

The rig is an FT-847. The CAT interface seems to work fine for displaying frequency, changing bands etc. How do I configure it to key the rig so I can send keyboard cw? Is there an issue going through the usb to serial converter and if so what kind of configuration will I need to make this work. Thanks for the help.
