Hi again...
I've been researching the zone 16,17 thing. The official CQ zone
list shows UA9S,W in zone 16. No mention of UA9T. I looked in my
old 1995 callbook and there are only 19 UA9T calls listed and they
seen to be scattered throughout Orenburg Oblast. I can't find any
logical reason why UA9T should not be in zone 16 along with S and W.
Having said that, I do not understand why Orenburg and Baskorstan
Oblasts are not in zone 17 along with the other UA9 calls. Perhaps
someone can enlighten us. I'm also trying to find out who determines
the continental borders for amateur radio use. In this region, the
amateur border appears to follow the oblast borders while the
usually recognized border between Europe and Asia (the Ural River)
meanders about through the oblasts.
