[Dx4win] PCI-type LPT ports for CW keying?

Paul,
I have been chasing this problem for a few months, in an effort to get the
parallel port on my ByteRunner serial/parallel PCI card working under
WindowsXP. The latest info I have on this comes from the helpful folks at
Wavenode... whose WN1 Windows-based remote wattmeter requires a parallel
port for its interface.
The bottom line is that there are two types of parallel ports these days
(does not matter whether it is "PCI" or not) - SPP (Standard Parallel Port)
and EPP (Extended Parallel Port). You must use an SPP parallel port under
Windows XP for any software that uses memory addressing to talk to the
remote device [anything other than a printer, essentially]. The ByteRunner
parallel port is EPP - so I need to buy another card that says "SPP" on its
box.
So, if like me, you want more than one parallel port in your PC to interface
to special devices (ARS rotor interface, TopTen band decoder, Wavenode
wattmeter, ...), it will have to be an SPP card.
