[Dx4win] Help - weird program crash

Last night, after working ZK1SCQ in the middle of the night, I went back to
bed leaving DX4WIN 5.01 running in the background. This morning, when I
bought it back, there was an error message on the screen about an exception
having occurred. I shut the program down and restarted it. It told me
that a backup file was available, as I'd hoped, so I accepted the chance to
rename it and open it as a log file.

Here's where the fun began -- as the program opened the log file, I noticed
that it seemed to slow down unusually near the end of the "reading QSOs"
dialogue. Moreover, when it finished, instead of displaying the last QSO,
the QSO screen only showed 0:00 in the time field, 160CW in the band/mode
fields, and 0s in the RST sent and received fields. I figured that perhaps
I had trashed the log file, so I went back and opened the last previous
data file (I keep 3-4 generations in the save subdirectory), and to my
surprise it showed the same thing. Attempting to move through the log file
appears to indicate that then only thing that is accessible through the QSO
window is this empty page with the zeroes.

It looks like one of two things has happened -- either the program is
corrupted such that it cannot read the log file, or it is actually
corrupting each log file as I open it. In case it's the latter, I am
totally reluctant to open any more files till I figure out what's happening.

Any ideas? Do I simply need to reinstall DX4WIN? I'd prefer NOT to
install 5.03 because of the printer driver bug that it has which prevents
printing QSLs in landscape format on some HP inkjets.

Thanks for any help.
