Seldom reply to exchanges like below - but Art raises good questions.
I don't know where this FREQ POLICE/SWAT mentality started but IMHO it is
out of control and quite frankly something needs to be done about it.
Aside from the appointed pilot trying to keep the DX tx freq clear do we
really need the self appointed (always seems there's more than one or
two) to keep tx UP UP etc on top of the DX station? You realize what this
does? It either delays an exchange for a QSO in progress or busts or
denies whomever their hard earned QSO. Even worse: Who are these people
(and some of us out there know who they may be) who always show up on top
of the DX station and deliberately interfere and QRM them? Their tactics
include steady key down, use of rtty or a digital mode or some variant or
else in morse send derogatory comments re amateurs or the most blatant
use of vulgarity and obscenities - and who'se the guy on SSB who groans
over and over like a wounded cow (i'm being nice today)? They hurt all of
us trying to make a QSO and sometimes cause the DX/dxped station to QRT
or QSY. They give all we amateurs a bad name and hurt us all by denying
the opportunity for that coveted QSO. The strong point of our hobby is
that we have been able to use self discipline for the good of all. Its
not only common sense guys, its good manners. If you know who these
offenders are, we need to find a way to publicly identify them and put
the authorities on to them. If we don't, what kind of operating
practices or on air discipline do you think the newcomers are going to
use - if they dont get fed up and decide to stay off the air? GL & 73 Al
