[DX] First Question - QSL

Hello to the list,

As a newly licensed ham I am very interested in DX. In my first weekend of
operation, I made some QSOs in some interesting places - it's been kind'a
exciting.

My question pertains particularly to the upcoming CQ WW contest. If someone
(ME) participates casually in the contest by answering CQ's from serious DX
participants, do I need to turn in a log so as not to hurt those with whom I
QSO. In other words, if I don't turn in a log, will their log entries
showing my QSO's be struck out as not confirmed?
