There has always been a rule regarding antennas. It's the same
rule for flying airplanes.
"It's the amount of air UNDER it that counts, not the amount of
air above it."
And now the military comes along with the NVIS antenna.
The NVIS is a low 1/4 wave antenna close to the ground, and works
best on 7 and 5 mHz.
They provide great coverage for a radius of about 200 to 500
miles.
That's why a G5RV on forty does such a great job. (At least MINE
does)
