[DX] Yet another eQSL acceptance story!

True. But consider:
(1) If it's a domestic QSL, then you're paying $1 to cover $.34 postage one
way. Granted, you're also saving the $.34 stamp to mail it too. So to get
back to the original case that started this particular thread... you're now
paying $1 per card for 3905 Century Club QSO's instead of sending a few
SASE's to their bureaus, and getting 7 or so cards (per stamp) per envelope
back? (Let's see, that about a two dimes for the envelopes, 2 US stamps,
total $.88 to get 7 cards, as opposed to spending $7 to get them via eQSL.
And this saves money how?)
(2) If it's a DX QSL, the DX station gets nothing out of it. For quite a
few DX stations, the difference between the green stamp(s) or IRC(s) we send
them and what they (or their managers) pay for postage keeps them on the air
in one form or another. So they have little or no incentive to upload logs
to eQSL.
(3) The DX station must explicitly state at some point that eQSL is
authorized to act as their QSL manager, or the printed card you just paid
for may be deemed unacceptable for DXCC, WAS, or other ARRL award purposes.
This has nothing to do with eQSL and everything to do with certain stations
who are issuing cards on behalf of well-known DX'ers without the DX's
knowledge or permission. So that $1 or more you pay now may be wasted funds
later.
(4) You have to pay a minimum of $5 in advance in order to use this service.
So what happens if you only want one or two cards? How long is the credit
good for -- and what do you do if you decide you want to cash in that
credit?
Sorry. It just doesn't add up.

$1 is still less than 80 cents on my end plus postage for the other end!
Of course I have yet to have a card I actually need appear at eQSL,
because only about 10% of my log matches other users of eQSL. Even
fewer contacts are actually confirmed because few users have uploaded
complete logs. I doubt many of my "cards" will ever be printed in any
event. Los Angeles is pretty far down the most wanted list - maybe a
few prefix hunters?
