[DX] Yet another eQSL acceptance story!

You know, something occurred to me this evening, in the midst of this
discussion:

Isn't one of the arguments in favor of the eQSL system is that it saves us
money?

If that's the case... now that they're charging $1 to print and mail you a
"real" QSL card, how is that saving us money?

And if part of the purpose is to help speed up confirmations for awards
purposes... why not set up a methodology so that, using as much automation
as possible, I could tell the award organization which contacts could be
found in the eQSL database system; they could query the database
electronically to confirm this; and upon confirmation, the organization can
make the appropriate award? Sure would be faster than my downloading a .jpg
file, printing it, and then mailing it in, wouldn't it?

ps: aside to the two eQSL zealots who told me quite pointedly where to go
(you know who you are)... thanks for the suggestions, but if I wished to
return to Hades, I'd remarry my first wife. Oh yes, and she hated CB radios
too (her parents were into that) so even if I were interested in 11 meter
communications, that option would not be open to me. Nor did I understand
how getting drunk and/or drugged would help me understand your arguments or
viewpoints, but you need not explain that one.

John,
I agree completely! Before I got my license in 1956, I sent out SWL cards
for a while. You know
what? I got just as big a thrill getting those "silly" "meaningless" cards
then as I do these days
when, in my opinion, they prove something. I , too, looked at the e-QSL but
just couldn't get into it.
It might be ok for the 3905 net, but not for serious DXing.
My $ .02 worth...fwiw.

Tom K5IID
