There is hope:

"*UN Headquarters Renovation*

The United Nations has embarked on a massive renovation project,
_*between 2009 and 2015*_, the 55 year old New York Headquarters is
being gutted and restored to its original iconic image with
infrastructure that is contemporary, safe, efficient and environmentally
sound.
This ambitious historic project was launched with a ground-breaking
ceremony on 5 May 2008, marking the beginning of a five-year, $1.9
billion overhaul of the UN landmark complex.
