[Dx-qsl] Courtesy wait period for QSL?

As manager for Dave Heil's many DX calls for 20+ years (still getting a few
even now...), I certainly understand where the apprehension was for a new,
relatively rare, or rare DXCC. Although in the J52US days, snail mail was
about it. I wasn't upset with 4-6 month requests, but sometimes I still
didn't have the logs as quickly as later, even though Dave was a FANATIC
about getting them to me. So I'm sure some guys went NUTS waiting, and I
could not fix things as quickly, so there was often more of a delay.
While he was at 9L1US, we went to Log-Eqf and the logs I normally received
by disk monthly, and later on during that tour went to email, once it had
come into its own and he had access to it at his post. Once again 4-6
months then was more reasonable because there could have been something
wrong fixed more quickly since the logs were more readily available.
For a BIG operation, yep, 6-12 months would be acceptable (in my eyes). I
don't consider our CY0AA in 1996 operation a large one (20K Q's + - ), but
it still took time to get QSL's printed, merge and correct software glitches
which occurred from conflicting op systems, and coordinate QSL
responsibilities depending on available time. Heck, I used to mail pounds
of Dave's and CY0AA QSL's at this little one room P.O. on route 7 in KY on
the Ohio River. The poor Postmaster thought I was running some type of mail
scam, after about the 4th drop there.
In any case, small and medium operations, 4-6 months, HUGE mega
undertakings, at least 6 months leaning toward a year.
IMHO
My respects to every manager....SALUD !
