[Dx-qsl] Fw: CY0 call signs

Rule of thumb 1.0

Log what is sent, not what you think it should be. If you put the /portable
in front when he is sending the /portable on the back; it will NOT match in
LoTW. If you spot it backwards from what he is sending; then other guys will
"click" on the spot which stuffs the information into their logging
programs. Later on they can complain they didn't get a LoTW confirmation.
Not to mention others will start spotting the call(s) sent "backwards". It
simply makes a mess. GIGO = garbage in, garbage out. My understanding with
any logging program I have ever used addressed the issue of the /portable on
the back end. I recall when early CT addressed the issue.

I understand "you" can upload both so that "you" cover your bases. But what
about the dx stations? Perhaps they also want your confirmation for their
awards or what have you. If you switch the /portables they don't get their
match. Why should they get penalized for something that wasn't their mistake
in the first place?

The one that takes the cake for me came from eQSL. I ONLY use eQSL because
others use it. I don't chase their awards at all. I rejected a call once
because he uploaded with his personal call and not the dx call he used. I
got a terse response to "just spend the $.44 to get the card. Don't bother
me again". Hmm, I get chastised for "his" mistake; that makes sense to me. I
didn't need his cards as I already had the band/modes confirmed for that dx
entity.

Many people chastise eQSL and I understand their feelings on the subject; to
each their own. Personally I have to give eQSL credit for something. In my
eQSL example above and this one: I have had guys upload with their current
call sign for the qso when it was with their previous call signs. Hmm, it is
not in my log that way so you don't get confirmation from me. I have been
told "well the qso is confirmed". Not in my book. You can not see this
information in LoTW and that is where I give eQSL credit.

Some of these problems don't seem so big if you are running, say 10k q's in
your logs. But what about the guys with hundred of thousands in their logs?
Then they do become huge.

This is just my two cents worth.
