[Dx-qsl] Help w/Outgoing US "NO SASE" Cards

Eric, John, and all --

I'm a bureau sorter and I'll forward anything that the 6th District HQ sends me.

Why?  We sort cards from dxpeditions to the Caribbean every contest season.  Do those ops really live in 6Y5 or P40?  No, of course not, they live in the US but they send their qsl's via the US bureaus.

So what's the difference between that and another US ham wanting to send qsl's from special event stations?  Aren't the bureaus really supposed to be mail from one dx country to another?  Is a US ham dumping dxpedition qsl's into the local bureaus meeting the INTENT of the bureau system?  To paraphrase an infamous statement, it depends on what your definition of "dx" is.

Eric, I also have been the manager for a few special event stations.  I print enough cards for every contact plus a few extra for SWL's.  While I answer all requests for contacts with my own call whether there's an sase or not, if there isn't one for the special event station, I do not reply.  It's not just the postage.  It's envelopes and labels and time.  There's no rule on whether to reply or not, do whatever you are comfortable with.

The bureau managers could really help us out by officially accepting special event cards.  That wouldn't overwhelm the system and it would certainly be great customer service.

I've gotten a lot of US cards for the W3A operation (January 2009) that
did not include an SASE.

How do I send them a card (no problem with that), as postage isn't cheap!

Thanks & 73,

I am a sorter in the W5 Incoming and I have returned to sender US-US cards with a note as to why, "I neither have the time nor the inclination to sort US-US cards unless it is for a DX QSL Manager". I may be a group of one.  Just my thoughts on the matter.
