[Dx-qsl] Claiming 160m DXCC - Sending QSLs

Hello Peter,
Congrats on the topband DXCC -- truly a great achievement!

I would strongly suggest using either insured registered mail or FedEx/UPS
air. I would also put the cards inside a rigid box instead of a padded
envelope and use high-strength packing tape. The positive thing about
registered is that it is secured at all times, requires signature hand-offs
and if it's being stored, it's usually in a fireproof container or safe in a
secure location. The down side with registered, however, is that you can't
track the package internationally and packaging requirements can be a bit
fussy.

>From outside the U.S. I'd be more inclined to go with FedEx or UPS, simply
because you get a tracking number, and most likely it will arrive either
overnight or in two days. Yes, delivery will be more costly, but this *is* a
once in a lifetime award!

For the most part, field-checking 160 cards is not permitted, although there
are a few card checkers who have the authority to do it. For example, I know
at Dayton you could get 160 cards checked, but our DX club has two checkers,
neither of whom can do 160m cards.

Subject: [Dx-qsl] Claiming 160m DXCC - Sending QSLs

I wonder if anyone out there can put my mind at ease. After 11 years of
perseverance with my very bent Inv-L, 100w and questionable radials -? I
finally worked my 100th 160m DXCC entity ( JW/SM0MDG) and received my prized
QSL card.

As far as I am aware 160m cards are not eligible for field checking and must
be submitted to ARRL HQ. I feel a bit uneasy about parting with my valued
cards, what is the best (SAFEST) way of sending my cards to and from
Newington.
