======================================
Hi Bob:
Yes, I agree. And Laci, HAØHW has a point too. Seven years is a long
time to wait before sending out for a QSL.
Normally, I would wait about 6 months to request a QSL from a
DXpedition. They get so many requests right away, I just give them the
time to thin it down. But I let time move on. Now, I'm back into
hamming again. I had also sent out about 8 other requests at the
beginning of April for DXpeditions that were worked at least 6 - 7 years
ago ( 3yØc, 9MØM, 5T5U and XRØX to name a few). What happened was
simply that about 6 years ago, I became disenchanted with the way so
many hams were conducting themselves when DXpeditions were on.
Absolutely no consideration for anyone else. Guess I'm just getting too
old and hanging on to "old time hamming". I for one regret how lax the
requirements are for anyone to get their Ham License now. Over the past
15 years or more, it has simply turned into a legal source of power for
a lot of CB'ers ...... I know, grumble, grumble, grumble.
Even the handling of QSLing has changed so much over the years. As you
say Bob, everyone has their likes and dislikes. Some ham friends of
mine never bother asking for a QSL. They know they have worked the
country and that is all they want. I think that is great. Others now
use e-QSL format for confirmation. I must admit, I have not looked into
this type of QSLing only because I want the actual card in my hand. But
if the Internet gives someone the access and confirmation they like,
that too, is great.
But in my opinion, you just can't beat having that rare country
confirmed with a card in hand that has your call sign on it and
verifying the contact..
Regards,
Tru, VE6TP
