Hi, Gary. Good questions which were all covered in the DXCC rules. I quote
an older version (April 1995 edition) which remains clear. Section III was
the deletion criteria.
The XT2 point was specifically cited as an example in the DXCC rules, Section
III (d):
" ... a country that merely changes its name (such as when Upper Volta became
Burkina Faso) does not change its basic status as a DXCC country ..."
Section III (c) dealt with partition and so the Czechoslovakia situation is
clear. "... one DXCC country is deleted and two or more DXCC countries are
created."
Sorry, you don't get a third Germany. You were probably thinking about
unification Section III (b) but the German case was actually under Section
III (a) annexation: "... the annexed area becomes a deleted country."
Working Germany after unification counts as the same Federal Republic of
Germany as before unification.
