First, let me say tht the author of the statistics, Rod, is an excellent QSLer...I've seen many of his envelopes. And thus, his statistics, as I also know he is quite active, probably are worth reading a few times.
I would however, caution, again, that it really depends on how you send the manager the card. If you include a large number of calls for a card to me, at least, given I handle several active stations....can result in a substantial delay. I mailed one this week that has been in my QTH nearly 1.5 years.
Yes, this could be considered a 'bureau' response. But the envelope had 8 calls in it.....two requiring paper log searches from QSOs from 5 plus years ago. Two points of note:
-it's still faster than the bureau...had those cards come via the bureau, I can guarantee they would taken much longer than 1.5 years.
-had there been 2 sases, or 8 sases, the response would have been much faster..... Even 2 cuts the processing time in 1/2 roughly.
Also, in this case, there was a BQ9P and BS7H (both new countries as best I could tell) along with a 8P and a WP2 request....my guess is that these were not new, and in fact, the WP2 had been confirmed for the same band/mode earlier.
Moral of the story...If you want to shoot yourself in the foot...don't blame the QSL manager for the pain you bring on yourself.
