Interesting that we have just had two topics running side by
side, one on the efficiency of the bureau system, and the other
on the K1B cards.
Strangely enough, Russian cards seem to arrive via the bureau
pretty quickly. The amount of goodwill that has been lost over
this stubborn reluctance to part with a card unless dollars are
in the pocket (not restricted to the K1B expedition either) is
just plain silly.
Why don't the Russians just QSL the lot, or at least the e-mail
requests, through the bureau?
The expedition sponsors were Icom, NCDXF, Acom, Heil Sound,
CDXC, GDXF and EUDXF. My c.w. card from YT1AD (long live c.w.)
states QSL courtesy of LZ1JK & Acom Bulgaria. (the cards
were printed in Serbia).Maybe the Russian cards could have been
sponsored by the Octavia Company.
Why Baker Island anyway? Because it was high on everyone's
QSL WANTED list. Great operation, great fun, forget the cards.
What percentage of the total cost of the operation did printing
the cards take up? Are the sponsors pleased with all this flak?
How many Russian operators owe their licences to all the s.w.l.
cards we used to answer in Soviet Union days?
Oh well, I am the one who said enough had been said.
