[DSP-10] Couple of questions about the software

Hello Todd,

First, I'm sorry for the long delay in getting back to you.

The "Front Panel" program that talks with the DSP in the DSP-10 is
UHFA.EXE. It is a DOS EXE program.

With some playing around, it is possible to get it to reliably run under
XP. I do not recommend this, though. The problem is the inconsistent
delay associated with Windows. Some times there is no delay, sometimes it
is quite long, depending on all the things happening in Windows. This
makes sending CW or the use of modes like PUA43 or EME-2 problematic, or
impossible.

It is best to find almost any older computer, running Win98 or earlier, and
run it is pure DOS. Then everything times out fine. CW can be sent at 60
WPM, etc. Or someone might redo things to not rely so much on timing
coming from the PC. Like a hardware RS-232 interface.

It would be interesting to have an implementation of the JT modes. I
looked at this briefly when they were introduced. It has a slight
complication in that they require 44 kHz sample rate to keep things simple,
but the RS-232 line needs 48 kHz. There are several possible solutions,
but it is a complexity. But, don't let me discourage you. Please pursue
this if you get an opportunity.

Many thanks for the note. Good luck.
