Ron,
Sorry, I was looking at Jiro San's pictures. To early in the AM at this Qth HI.  In removing the IC I would wick the solder off the pins then very carefully heat each pin and gently lift pin up using a very pointed and sharp EXACTO knife blade.  I almost made that mistake on that same IC but thanks to KD7 TS I got it on correctly.  Good luck.
