Hello Don
I have the Mk 1 Tvtr & the contest group I operate with use the 144 & 432
Tvtrs from OM Michael DB6NT. They are certainly very good transvert
systems.
An extract from OM Michael's web page advertising is..............

Transverter module - MKU 13 G2 - MKU 13 G2-28

This 23cm transverter was developed employing advanced components. Despite
its small size it exhibits excellent performance. It was possible to design
the circut in a 50Ohm SMD technique using MMIC`s, helical filter and
ring-mixer. This module is suitable for building a small portable station or
to be part of a powerfull home-station. The circuit is a further development
of MKU 13 G Transverter.
- German silver case, compact construction
- Monitor output
- Built in transmit / receive IF switch
- Built-in 4 Watt IF-attenuator for direct operation with a 2m transceiver
- Control output for further stages
- World-wide the smallest 23cm Band Transverter with the best performance!

and clearly (IMHO) shows that it 144 input level can be as much as 4 watts.
Our group use an ex TV cavity amplifier with YD1336 for final amplification.
I hope that helps you
